Fields of Fun

Children participate in sports from Grade 1. The infants stay twice a week and Grades 3 to Grade 7 stay every afternoon. Matches are played mid-week and on weekends.

Summer Sports


From our Golden League inter-house athletics to District athletics, we encourage all pupils to participate and have fun with our school athletics.

Cross Country

All pupils are encouraged to participate in school cross-country as well as Inter-school Cross Country meets and we attend all major invitationals throughout the year.


We have four cricket teams, which are Colts A and B for the juniors, and First and Second team for the seniors. We offer day and night cricket as have a floodlit pitch. We attend all inter-school events and tournaments throughout the season.


Tennis is offered in the first term and second term to all girls. For the juniors we have Fillies A, B and C and for the seniors we have First and Second team. We attend inter-school fixtures and championships.


We encourage all pupils to participate in swimming in both first and third terms. We have two swimming pools, one of which is a 25m pool and as we place a strong emphasis on the introduction to swimming, the spalsh pool is utilized for all lessons. We take part in the following swimming galas throughout term:

  • Inter-house swimming galas
  • Inter-school swimming galas
  • District Championships
  • National Championships

Winter Sports


All pupils are taught to play hockey in the second term. We offer both field and indoor and host the following events at the school each year:

  • Colts hockey festival
  • Fillies hockey festival
  • 7's indoor hockey


Netball is played by girls in the second term and is a popular sport at Lomagundi. We host the Fillies A at home each year.


Boys are encouraged to play rugby in the second term and this is definitely one of our more popular sports. We proudly host an interschool festival each year for:

  • Colts A and B
  • First & Second team
